The City of Bloomington is seeking a highly motivated, technically capable individual to join its Information and Technology Services (ITS) Department's GIS group. The City has a mature enterprise GIS project that supports a variety of users. The GIS group maintains and enhances the GIS, working to integrate GIS with other information technology and improve data distribution. The GIS Specialist operates the City’s GIS; designs, creates andmaintains GIS map data and associated attribute databases; and provides spatial analysis, cartographic output and user support. The individual will have the opportunity to coordinate with a wide range of professionals from the City and other local agencies.

IDEM has a internship position ($11.30/hour) for this summer for students with experience in GIS. The intern will create spatial representations from legal descriptions for Environmental Restrictive Covenants, verify coordinates for regulated facilities and sites, and perform fieldwork to gather GPS points for environmental sites. IDEM utilizes ESRI’s ArcGIS 10 software and Trimble GPS units.
