KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The position requires skills in research methods, software engineering, GIS programming, data collection and analysis, database management, client interactions, and teamwork. The candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Candidate must be capable of working in an interdisciplinary scientific atmosphere. Advanced technical skills required to include knowledge of ArcGIS software and familiarity with other various software programs described below.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Equivalent to a Masterís Degree in Earth Systems, Environmental Science, OR Computer Science with coursework in Environmental Science AND at least 3 yearís of relevant scientific experience in technology and/or science industries/academia involving GIS and data analysis. Formal training or course work in GIS is essential.

Previous experience with the following is desirable:
i) ArcGIS, ArcSDE, ArcIMS, ArcXML software, satellite imagery and image processing; ii) excellent knowledge of geodesy and techniques for converting geographic projections and standard scientific data formats (HDF, NetCDF); iii) experience installing and configuring ArcGIS server software; iv) database management training and experience, including familiarity with MySQL and PostgreSQL DBMS; v) knowledge of Python scripting in ArcGIS; vi) experience with image processing software (ENVI).
