In the last month another ten (10) Counties have signed the Data Sharing Agreement to become partners in the IndianaMap Data Sharing Initiative. This brings us up to 67 of 92 Indiana Counties on board. Each county partner will dynamically share their GIS Parcel Polygons, Point Addresses, Street Centerlines, and Jurisdictional Boundaries with the State and the IndianaMap over the Internet as OGC Web Feature Services. The latest counties to sign up are: Brown, Elkhart, Greene, Huntington, Jackson, Morgan, Parke, Rush, Switzerland, and Vermilion Counties

If your county is still shown in yellow on the above map, please talk to your County Commissioners and discuss with them the importance, value and timeliness of your counties participation. To help the County EMA Directors accurately and quickly submit their "2007 LETPP WebGIS" grant requests, Roger Koelpin at the Indiana Department of Homeland Security has provided them with on-line templates in their iGMS system. The following is a summary of monthly reports submitted by Denver Harper and Chris Dintaman on behalf of Dr. John Steinmetz and the other contributors to the IndianaMap Viewer.

New IndianaMap Layers
Three (3) new layers have been added to the IndianaMap Viewer:
A new layer named "Institutional Control Sites” has been provided by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM). This layer provides locations for properties that have environmental restrictive covenants (ERCs) and other institutional controls (ICs) mandated by IDEM. Attributes include facility names, type(s) of use-restrictions and ICs, and a Web URL that links directly to a digital copy of the IC document. This layer can be found in the following folder: ENVIRONMENT/BIOLOGY > Environment.
A new layer named “Observation Wells (USGS)" provides locations of 91 monitoring wells (both active and inactive). Data were obtained from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Division of Water, and the United States Survey (USGS), National Water Information System (NWIS). This layer can be found in the following folder: HYDROLOGY > Hydrogeology.
A new layer named “Water Wells (IDNR)" provides locations of 355,871 wells. Data represent a subset of the water-well-log database of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), Division of Water. Only one third of the well locations have been determined by IDNR; the remainder have estimated locations. Wells with estimated locations should not be used in hydrologic analyses in which location is a factor. Attributes include the location type (located or estimated), depth of the well, pump rate, static water level, the use of the well, and a URL link to the detailed well record. This layer can be found in the following folder: HYDROLOGY > Hydrogeology.
Updated IndianaMap Layers
Nine (9) layers were updated on the IndianaMap Viewer:
Six hydrology layers have been updated. These high-resolution (1:24,000) layers from the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) of the U.S. Geological Survey replace older, less detailed (1:100,000) layers. The layers are named “Hydrography Points (NHD),” “Streams (NHD),” “Rivers (NHD),” and “Lakes (NHD).” They can be found in the following folder: HYDROLOGY > Hydrogeology.
Two layers provided by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) have been updated. The layers are named "Managed Lands" and "Recreational Facilities.” Managed Lands can be found in the following folder: ENVIRONMENT/BIOLOGY > Management Areas & Misc. Recreational Facilities can be found in the following folder: INFRASTRUCTURE > Other Infrastructure.
At the request of a user, the layer named “Hospitals and Rural Health Clinics (ISDH)" has been updated to more accurately locate the facility named "St Margaret Mercy Healthcare Center South, Dyer, Indiana." This layer can be found in the following folder: INFRASTRUCTURE > Other Infrastructure.
IHAPI Web Site Updated
The Indiana Historical Aerial Photo Index (IHAPI) Web site has been updated to include imagery from Wayne County, 1961. This imagery was provided by GIS personnel of the City of Richmond.
